Should the Mauritian State fund religious organisations?

Rs 73.6 millions of public money has been given away to religions during the last financial year. The Catholic Church is the main beneficiary with Rs 23.7 millions, followed by the Somduth Dulthummun’s Mauritius Sanatan Dharma Temples Federation, Rs 17.8 millions. Ten other institutions received Rs 32.1 millions altogether. This amount of public money is not astronomical compared with the figures involved in the wastage of public funds, as quoted by the latest Audit Report.
